I am happy to announce that I am one of 30 Chicago artists chosen to receive the Chicago Artist Coalition 2021 SPARK grant! This unrestricted award of $2,000 recognizes exceptional artists working in Chicago and to support the advancement of their artistic careers. This grant is generously funded by the Joyce Foundation.
I've been working so hard recently to prioritize and grow my creative practice after a long time away, and I am humbled when it feels like I can begin to reap what I've been sowing. Part of this money will be used to take my first trip to my father's homecountry of Dominican Republic this fall/winter, part of it for some new handmade hematite pigment in the LaCloche mountain watercolors from Beam Paints(drool), and some will go towards bills.
